In loving memory of Pauline Steel
|
It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved committee member, fundraiser, and friend, Pauline Steel. Our thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with her family at this difficult time.
Pauline's funeral will take place at 1.45pm on Friday 5th September at Portchester Crematorium. Afterwards, there will be a wake at Titchfield Community Centre. For over 40 years, Pauline devoted her time, energy, and enthusiasm to running the weekly tea dances and monthly Come Dancing nights at the Centre. More than just an organiser, Pauline was the host and the heart of these events, and will be deeply missed by her devoted dancers. Pauline was also a highly valued committee member, volunteering hours of her free time to help keep the Centre running. Her dances brought joy to hundreds, and we estimate she raised more than £100,000 in support of the Centre, an amazing legacy that will be felt for years to come. In November 2024, Pauline was honoured with a BBC Radio Solent Make a Difference Award (pictured below), a well-deserved recognition of her incredible work, and a memory we will cherish. Pauline was a true local hero and the embodiment of all we hold dear at Titchfield Community Centre. Her absence will be felt deeply, but her spirit, kindness, and generosity will continue to inspire us. Thank you and God bless, Pauline. From all at Titchfield Community Association and the Community Centre. |
